– Kuwait has renewed its firm stance on the necessity of ending the Israeli occupation on all the occupied Palestinian territories and Palestinians to gain their political rights, including the right of self-determination.

This came in a statement delivered by the diplomatic attache of the permanent delegation to United Nations Mohammad Al-Sawagh, on Thursday evening before the Fourth Committee of the General Assembly of the International Organization.

Al-Sawagh stressed on the principle of enabling people to have the right to self-determination, which was stated in the first article of General Assembly Resolution 1514 issued in December 1960 on granting independence to countries and people of Non-Self-Governing Territories.

He stressed on the necessity of ending the Israeli occupation of all the occupied Palestinian territories, as well as the importance of gaining full legitimate political rights to Palestinians.

Al-Sawagh mentioned that the most prominent achievements of the UN since its inception is that many countries have gained their independence and joined the UN membership, calling for the committee concerned with implementing Declarations to search for other ways to enhance its capabilities and deal with countries that administer the Non-Self-Governing Territories.

He pointed out that all countries must cooperate with the committee and provide accurate data on the political, social, economic and educational conditions of the regions and work to develop them in accordance with Article No. 73 of the UN.

He reiterated Kuwait’s support for the UN efforts under the supervision of the Secretary-General of the organization and his envoy, which facilitated the holding of the two rounds meetings with the Sahara issue in December 2018 and March 2019 in compliance with the relevant Security Council resolutions.
