— The Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry late Thursday summoned Acting Charge d’Affaire at the US embassy James Holtsnider on the backdrop of the embassy’s pro-gay rights post on its social media accounts.

Acting Assistant Minister for Affairs of the Americas Nawaf Al-Ahmad handed Holtsnider a memo enclosed with the State of Kuwait’s rejection of the post, as well as stressing necessity for the embassy to respect the country’s laws and regulations as stipulated in the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961
