Kuwait University hosts second cybersecurity conf.

– The Second InfoSec Summit — Cybersecurity and Resilience kicked off at College of Life Sciences, Sabah Al-Salem Kuwait University City, on Wednesday with more than 500 experts and academia attending in person or virtually.

The current session of the annual event organized by the Information Science Department at the College of Life Sciences, focuses on both theoretical and practical issues related to cybersecurity and resilience, said Dr. Ahmad Allafy dean of the College.

It is held in collaboration with the Computer Engineering Department at the College of Engineering and Petroleum at the new Kuwait University Campus in Sabah Al-Salem University City, he noted.

Info security gained additional importance in today’s world where almost all companies and organizations are connected to, and relying heavily on, the Internet applications.

These companies and institution are no longer immune to cyberattacks which could harm millions of people and cost billions of dollars, Dr. Allafy pointed out.

He added the College of Life Sciences offers specialized programs in the bachelor and master stages on food and nutrition, problems of communication, environment management, and information sciences.

On his part, Acting Chair of the Information Sciences Dept. of the College of Life Sciences Dr. Bader Ali said the agenda topics of the Summit include, inter alia, the role of laws, policies and regulations in cyber-resilience; transforming business in a resilient, secure and safe business environment; protecting smart cities with smart security; risk management and building the cybersecurity foundations – basic Hygiene.

The agenda also includes items on short networking break; panel discussion on cybersecurity awareness, training and education; achieving cyber resilience in Kuwait banking sector, he added.
