Kuwaiti athletes clinch seven medals at Asian karate championship

– The national team of Kuwait secured two gold, two silver and three bronze medals on Saturday, the opening day of the 17th edition of the Senior Asian Karate Championship.

The championship, being held in Almaty, capital of Kazakhstan, continues for five days, head of the Kuwaiti mission to the event Abdulaziz Al-Shouli told KUNA.

Ali Al-Ajmy got the gold medal of the male Kumite U-57kg competition and his teammate Abdulhadi Al-Dowailah won the gold medal of the Kumite U-63kg competition, said Al-Shouli, also board member of Kuwait Karate Federation.

Moussa Al-Mutairi secured the silver of the Junior and U-21 Championship (52 kg.) and his teammate Omar Bastaki won the silver of the Kata event.

Three bronze medals in the Junior and U-21 Championship went to Hassan Al-Majady – the 70 kg. event, Hassan Kamal and the Kuwaiti team made up of Kamal, Bastaki and Ahmad Al-Msallam in the teams event, Al-Shouli added. The championships, organized by the Asian Karate Federation, continue until December 22
