Kuwait-based charity Al-Salam Association for Humanitarian and Charitable Activities announced on Thursday the completion of a village in Yemen’s Taez, worth KD 1.4 million (USD 4.5 million), dedicated to orphans, widows and those in need.
The village can accomodate up to 144 apartments and includes a healthcare facility, bakery, school and seven shops, the charity’s head Nabil Al-Awn said.
The charity also plans to cover the village’s expenses for a whole year, until its inhabitants are able to be “self sufficient” through a number of sustainable projects backed by the charity.
The charity intends to carry out a similar intiative in Syria, Al-Awn added
