Kuwaiti MPs urge Muslim parliaments, gov’ts to protect constants, sanctities

Kuwait’s National Assembly lawmakers, in their regular session Tuesday, called for the necessity of concerted efforts of Muslim parliaments and governments and activating the role of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation to enact laws banning offending Islamic constants and sanctities in order to prevent any attack on the Holy Quran.

This came after submitting a request to allocate three hours to discuss attacking Muslim sanctities and the flagrant aggression on burning a copy of the Holy Quran in Sweden.

The MPs lauded the decision by the Kuwaiti Cabinet on printing 100,000 copies of the Holy Quran translated into Swedish language to distribute them in Sweden.

They also commended the Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ measures taken when an extremist burnt a copy of the Holy Quran in the Swedish capital, Stockholm.

The lawmakers also emphasized that the condemnation and denunciation act is not enough to prevent extremists from repeating offending ‘our Islamic beliefs’, calling on the Muslim parliaments and governments to put an end to such repeated heinous offenses.
