Kuwait’s EPA observes World Earth Hour

The Environment Public Authority of Kuwait (EPA) joined millions of people around the globe in observing the World Earth Hour on Saturday, March 26.

This global event is a reminder of the need to conserve energy and protect environment, Director of EPA Public Relations Dept. Sheikha Al-Ibrahim told KUNA this evening.

“By taking part in this event, the State of Kuwait is showing commitment to the international effort to protect environment,” she pointed out “This is an occasion to raise public awareness about the risks of climate change and irresponsible consumption of energy.

“It aims to highlight the need of collective social responsibility for protecting Earth – our collective home,” she noted.

Various agencies and associations as well as individuals across Kuwait took part in the event by taking an hour off electricity at offices and homes to show support to the energy conservation drive and the international convention related to environment protection, Al-Ibrahim added.

She highlighted the need to make the occasion of switching off electricity for an hour a sustainable commitment to environment protection to ensure better future for the new generations.
