Military plane carries 227 Belgian evacuees from Afghanistan lands in Melsbroek

BRUSSELS, A charter plane carrying 193 people that were evacuated from Afghanistan by the Belgian military landed at the Melsbroek air base Monday morning.

It was the first of two charter flights ferrying evacuees that had been taken from Kabul to the Pakistani capital Islamabad where the Belgian evacuation mission is based. A second flight carrying 34 others landed a little later today, VRT news network reported.

By Sunday evening the Belgian military had already evacuated a total of 400 people from Kabul Airport, meanwhile, there will be four more Belgian evacuation flights from Kabul to Islamabad today.
