Minister Miraoui Meets European Commissioner for Innovation in Brussels


Brussels – Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, Abdellatif Miraoui, has held talks with the European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, Iliana Ivanova, on ways to strengthen cooperation in areas of common interest.

During the meeting, held in Brussels on Friday, the two parties discussed ways and means of strengthening cooperation in higher education, scientific research and innovation in areas of common interest, commending the level of cooperation in these fields, according to a statement by the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation.

On this occasion, the Minister stressed the importance of co-developing with the European Union (EU) specific training programs for talents and skills, with a view to meeting the future needs of Morocco and European countries, while taking into account the African participative scope.

He also emphasized the need to further encourage the mobility of students, doctoral students, researche
rs and administrative staff, notably within the framework of the ERASMUS+ program, noted the statement.

In addition, the two parties agreed to pursue discussions on the continuation of the PRIMA program, “in which Morocco has played an outstanding role, and which represents a model of regional cooperation involving Morocco and the EU”, the same source pointed out.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the Ministerial Conference on the Multilateral Dialogue on the Principles and Values of International Cooperation in Research and Innovation, held in Brussels on February 15 and 16 by the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
