Ministry of Environment Opens Up Investment in Indoor Farming and Lavender City in Aseer


The Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture announced today new investment opportunities aimed at establishing greenhouses with indoor farming systems and an integrated city for lavender and citrus cultivation in the Aseer region.

This initiative is part of the ministry’s broader efforts to enhance food security, achieve self-sufficiency in agricultural crops, support environmental sustainability, and stimulate investment in the agricultural sector. Through these initiatives, the ministry seeks to develop agricultural infrastructure, diversify income sources, and improve the quality of life in rural areas, thereby advancing the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.

The ministry clarified that the first investment opportunity involves establishing greenhouses with indoor farming systems to produce vegetables in the Aseer region on an area estimated at 10,000 square meters. The deadline for receiving offers is November 16, 2024, with the opening of envelopes scheduled for November 17, 2024.

The ministry also i
ndicated that the second investment opportunity involves establishing an agricultural city for the production and cultivation of lavender, citrus fruits, and fruit trees in Namas Governorate, on an area estimated at 664,520 square meters. The deadline for receiving offers for this investment opportunity is November 11, 2024, with the opening of envelopes scheduled for November 12, 2024.

The ministry confirmed that interested parties can apply for these investment opportunities and obtain the terms and conditions booklet through the “Opportunities” platform or by communicating via email at Investor@mewa.gov.sa for more details. It encouraged investors to take advantage of these opportunities to contribute to the development of Saudi Arabia’s agricultural sector and to achieve sustainable development in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
