Mustafa: We have 3 priorities

Ramallah – Ma’an – Prime Minister Muhammad Mustafa confirmed that the government will focus in the current stage on three priorities, which are: alleviating the suffering of our people in the Gaza Strip, achieving financial stability, and implementing a program to reform and develop the performance of institutions.

Mustafa said in his speech at the beginning of the first government session, today, Tuesday in Ramallah, that the government has been making international efforts and contacts around the clock from the first moment of its formation to alleviate the suffering of our people in the Gaza Strip, starting with the urgent needs for humanitarian relief, and ending with reconstruction, in the face of criminal war and genocide. This is also the case in the West Bank, where aggression, killing, seizures, arrests, and settler terrorism continue, and difficult security and economic conditions continue.

The Prime Minister stressed that the government has begun work to stabilize the financial situation, in orde
r to achieve economic and social security and preserve the strength of our financial and economic institutions.

He said: We are fully aware that all our efforts and plans for relief and developing the work of institutions will not succeed without achieving financial stability, and the government has begun to put pressure with mediators and international partners to push Israel to release our seized funds, which are the right of our people, and recovering them represents a top priority.

The Prime Minister indicated that the government’s third priority is to implement an ambitious work program to reform and develop the performance of public institutions in order to achieve more productivity, transparency and accountability by reviewing and correcting many measures to achieve this goal.

He stressed the need for our institutions to work efficiently, to provide services to citizens with dignity, to be transparent and free of corruption, without justifications for not working, and to ensure the provision of serv
ices and rights at a level befitting our people. He stressed that everyone who succeeds will be rewarded, and whoever makes mistakes will be held accountable.

The following is the text of the Prime Minister’s speech:

First and foremost, we pray for the souls of our martyrs, and we wish recovery for the wounded, and freedom for our prisoners.

Condemnation and denunciation are not enough in the face of the ongoing crimes in the Gaza Strip, and in the West Bank and Jerusalem – condemnation and denunciation must be directed against silence over the atrocities being committed, and allowing them to continue, the latest of which is the crime in Al-Shifa Hospital – a full-fledged war crime that was carried out in full view of the world. We will continue our efforts to make the world bear its responsibilities, and also to bear our responsibilities by providing what is necessary to support our people and stand with them in the face of this tyranny.

Genocide and war crimes must stop immediately – a permanent ceasefi
re must be declared.

At the beginning of the session, I would like to thank President Mahmoud Abbas for the precious trust he has given us in these complex and difficult circumstances. I also extend my thanks to my colleagues, Your Excellency the Ministers, for accepting responsibility in this historical juncture that our national cause is going through, which indicates national belonging and willingness to give and work.

I extend my greetings and respect to the people of our great people in all their places of presence, in proud Gaza, the Gaza of pride and dignity despite the wounds, in the steadfast West Bank, in Jerusalem, our eternal capital, and in the diaspora.

I say to our people: This is your government, and it exists to serve you, to raise your status, to do its part in order to be a lever for achieving our national goals of freedom, independence and return.

As you know, brothers, the government submitted to His Excellency the President the ministerial statement that included the broad outlines o
f its work program, and it was published through the media. Therefore, my speech will be limited to three priorities, given their urgent and urgent needs that cannot tolerate delay:

First: From the first moment of its formation, the government has been making international efforts and contacts around the clock to alleviate the suffering of our people in the Gaza Strip, starting with the urgent needs for humanitarian relief, and ending with reconstruction, in the face of the ongoing criminal war and genocide. In the West Bank, where aggression, killing, confiscations, arrests, and settler terrorism continue, and difficult security and economic conditions continue.

Our message to our people, especially in the Gaza Strip:

We are with you, we are for you, and we are all for Palestine. We are fully aware of the extent of the crime, the extent of the pain, and the complexities and difficulties of the situation.

We say: Your pain is our pain, and difficulties and complications will not prevent us from assuming o
ur responsibilities towards you.

In recognition of this importance, the ministerial formation included a Minister of State for Relief Affairs who will lead the government’s efforts with the aim of coordinating, maximizing and organizing emergency and immediate relief operations with all national, regional, international and international bodies – most notably UNRWA. We will seek to form the largest coalition of international institutions and bodies supporting the relief of our people. .

Second: Commencing work to stabilize the financial situation, in a way that achieves economic and social security, and maintains the strength of our financial and economic institutions:

We understand and feel the difficult circumstances and distress, but we are fully aware that our job is not to express our feelings with you, and only to listen to you; Rather, we work to find solutions, and this is what we promise you. Commitment to make every effort, which we began as soon as we assumed our responsibilities yesterday.

We
are fully aware that all our efforts and plans for relief and developing the work of institutions will not succeed without achieving financial stability, and the government has begun to put pressure with mediators and international partners to push Israel to release our seized funds, which are the right of our people, and recovering them represents a top priority.

Our goal is to measure our efforts by results, not words, so you will not hear promises from us, but we will inform you of the results as soon as they are achieved.

Third: Implementing an ambitious work program to reform and develop the performance of public institutions in order to achieve greater productivity, transparency and accountability by reviewing and correcting many procedures to achieve this goal:

Our public institutions must work efficiently, provide services to citizens with dignity, be transparent and free of corruption, without justifications for not working, and ensure the provision of services and rights at a level befitting our
people. Whoever succeeds will be rewarded, and whoever makes mistakes will be held accountable.

In conclusion,

In order for us to achieve what we aspire to, the government must be empowered.

Mr. President informed the government in the post-sworn-in session that the government has full powers granted to it by law.

In addition, we send a message from this platform to all our people, with all its components, including activities, institutions, unions, federations, and all political parties, regarding the necessity of working to empower the government and facilitate its work.

National unity, solidarity, cohesion, and building a unified internal front are not achieved through words and slogans, but through action, and our people and our cause are in dire need of unity.

Our message is not to rally around the government, but rather around its program of action – as a comprehensive national program, and therefore we must all be on the same side, with the same unified national effort, in a single, cohesive and
solid front, so that we can implement it, and for our people to cross from the most difficult and darkest circumstances to the light of freedom. And independence.
