In the first session of the 17th legislative term on Tuesday, the National Assembly elected MP Osama Al-Shaheen for the post of secretary of the National Assembly.

The outcome of the vote for the new secretary, which was contested by MPs Al-Shaheen and Majid Al-Mutairi, resulted in 25 votes for Al-Shaheen and 20 votes for Al-Mutairi out of the total attendance of 48 members.

Al-Shaheen, born in 1979, holds a master’s degree in law and has been a member of the National Assembly in two legislative terms, the 15th in 2016 along with the 16th in 2020.
