NCCAL mourns late Kuwaiti Astronomer Dr. Saleh Mohammad Al-Ojairi

— Kuwait’s National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL), mourned Thursday the late Kuwaiti Astronomer Dr. Saleh Mohammad Al-Ojairi, who passed away earlier this morning at age of 101 years.

In a press release, NCCAL spokesperson, Dr. Eissa Al-Ansari, conveyed the condolences of the Minister of Information Dr. Hamad Rouhaldeen, and all of the council’s staff over the demise of the late.

The spokesperson said that the late was the founder of astronomy in Kuwait and the region. He has many contributions, scientific achievements, and books that have enriched scientific libraries.

Saleh Al-Ojairi was born on June 23 of the year 1920. He had contributed many books for the Arab world about Astronomy and was behind the formation of Al-Ojairi calendar, which the State of Kuwait has officially adopted for all its official transactions.
