Palestinian groups rally to mark “Nakba”

Palestinian national and Islamic groups organized on Monday a rally in front of the UN headquarters in Gaza marking the 75th anniversary of “Al-Nakba,” when Palestinians were forced to flee their homes in 1948.

Hundreds of refugees, officials and leaders of associations participated in the demonstration raising placards depicting tragedy of more than six million Palestinian refugees in the occupied territories and in diaspora.

Raed Al-Ghul, the head of the Refugees Popular Committee, said in a statement to KUNA that the Palestinian people have been patient and kept the aspirations to return to their homeland.

He condemned latest Israeli crimes in Gaza and the aggression that inflicted massive damage and claimed 33 lives.

Issam Abu Daqqa, member of the Central Committee of the Democratic Front for the LiberatiOn of Palestine (DFLP), urged in a statement to the Kuwaiti news agency international agencies and organizations to shoulder their responsibilities after establishment of the “the State of occupation according to the UN Resolutions 181 and 490.” According to records of the UN refugee agency, the UNRWA, number of the Palestinian refugees registered in December 2020 amounted to some 6.4 million, including two million in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

The 1948 “Nakba” marks proclamation of “the State of Israel.”
