Prime Minister Muhammad al-Sudani affirmed, today, Tuesday, Iraq’s approach to achieving balanced relations with brotherly and friendly countries based on sovereignty and mutual respect.
A statement by his media office stated that “Al-Sudani received today, Tuesday, the head of the Strategic Council for Foreign Relations in the Islamic Republic of Iran, Kamal Kharrazi, and his accompanying delegation, and relations between the two countries and the importance of strengthening them, ways of strengthening bilateral cooperation in several areas and emphasizing the development of relations between the countries of the region were discussed.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister affirmed Iraq’s support and welcome to the recent expansion of constructive relations between the countries of the region, which will be reflected in their stability and the interests and development of their peoples.
Al-Sudani reiterated, according to the statement, the emphasis on Iraq’s approach to achieving balanced relations with brotherly and friendly countries based on sovereignty and mutual respect, referring to the Baghdad International Conference 2023, which will be with a different vision based on the principle of development partnerships and economic integration between the countries of the region, and making it a gateway to achieving stability and prosperity.”
Al-Sudani also stressed that the government’s priorities today stem from the citizen’s priorities and needs, and they are highly acceptable among the components of the Iraqi people, which confirms the validity of the path represented by the government’s project, which is the project of a just and servant state for the citizen.
For his part, Kharrazi conveyed the greetings of the Iranian leadership to the Prime Minister and its aspiration for more fruitful cooperation, praising Iraq’s pivotal role in the region and its efforts to bring views closer and reduce tension, stressing that Iraq, with its history, civilization and diversity, is capable of playing a major role in stabilizing stability in the region.”
