Rabat Hosts First Ministerial Session of Morocco-UAE Economic Commission

The first ministerial session of the Morocco-UAE Joint Economic Commission was held on Thursday in Rabat, under the chairmanship of Minister of Economy and Finance Nadia Fettah and her Emirati counterpart Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri.

In her speech on this occasion, Fettah welcomed the level of distinguished relations between the two countries and brotherly peoples, praising, in this context, the pioneering contribution of the UAE Government and the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development in supporting structuring development projects in various vital sectors in the Kingdom.

The minister also reviewed the major economic reforms undertaken by the government to improve the business climate in the Kingdom, which has contributed to consolidating its position as a privileged destination for investors and strengthening its attractiveness and economic projection at the regional and international levels.

On the other hand, he expressed Morocco’s continued willingness to develop joint action mechanisms with the UAE and establish fruitful economic cooperation in various areas of common interest, calling on Emirati investors to take advantage of the promising investment opportunities in the Kingdom and establish partnerships with the Moroccan private sector in priority areas.

In turn, Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri hailed the strength of fraternal and cooperative relations between the UAE and the Kingdom of Morocco, expressing his country’s keenness to develop bilateral relations and prospects for economic cooperation.

He also stressed that the holding of the first session of the Morocco-United Arab Emirates Joint Economic Commission is a new starting point for strengthening economic and trade partnerships between the two countries, developing cooperation mechanisms and establishing a new partnership plan in more sectors and trade and investment activities.

The Emirati minister affirmed, moreover, that this meeting of decision-makers, investors and business representatives of the two countries reflects the success of joint efforts and paves the way for exploring new avenues of economic cooperation between Morocco and the UAE.

This meeting, marked by the participation of senior officials from the two ministries and some public and private sector institutions of the two countries, was preceded by a bilateral meeting between the two ministers which was crowned by the signing of a memorandum of understanding on economic and technical cooperation between the two parties.

The objective is to establish a cooperation framework contributing to the development, reinforcement and diversification of the fields of economic and technical cooperation between the two countries through the establishment of the Morocco-UAE Joint Economic Commission.
