Saudi Arabia offers concessional loan and grant to Tunisia amounting to $500 million

In accordance with the directives of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Saudi Minister of Finance Mohammed bin Abdullah Aljadaan and Tunisian Minister of Finance Sihem Boughdiri, today signed an agreement in Tunisia for the provision of a concessional loan in the amount of $400 million US dollars and a memorandum of understanding for the provision of a grant in the amount of $100 million US dollars.

Aljadaan highlighted that the signing of the agreement for the provision of the concessional loan and the memorandum of understanding for the grant reaffirm the depth and strength of the relations between the leaderships of the two brotherly countries. He noted that this reflects the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s continuous and leading efforts in support of Arab and Islamic countries, emphasizing that these agreements are part of the Kingdom’s efforts to support the stability and prosperity of the Tunisian economy.

He also noted that Saudi Arabia continues to enhance and strengthen cooperation and coordination with the Republic of Tunisia at various fields and levels, confirming that the concessional loan and the grant are an extension of the Kingdom’s previous efforts, the most recent of which was the 2019 provision of a loan to the current account of the general treasury of Tunisia at the Central Bank of Tunisia in the amount of $500 million.

Aljadaan added that this support will help pave the way for further financial support for Tunisia from regional and international financial institutions.
