RIYADH, The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its government’s regret over Algeria cutting ties with Morocco.

The Saudi Foreign Ministry expressed in a statement Wednesday, its government’s hope for the return of relations between Morocco and Algeria as soon as possible, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

It urged both countries to give priority to dialogue as well as diplomacy to find solutions to contentious issues in a way that contributes to opening a new page for ties between the two sides.

On Tuesday, Algerian Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra announced that Algeria decided to cut diplomatic ties with Morocco.
