Saudi Crown Prince’s visit to Kuwait prelude to GCC Summit

— Chairperson of the Saudi Journalists Association Khaled Al-Malek affirmed on Friday that the visit by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud to Kuwait was a prelude the historic GCC Summit due in the Saudi capital Riyadh in a few days.

Al-Malek, who gave this statement to KUNA on margins of a meeting with Kuwaiti journalists, headed the Saudi delegation of media personnel who accompanied the Saudi Crown Prince. This visit capped the Crown Prince Gulf tour; the first official-level Saudi visits following the inter-GCC conciliation in which Kuwait had played an effective role, namely by the late Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

Al-Malek has added that the region is facing major challenges, thus the official and private media shoulder grand responsibility to back up efforts by the GCC countries’ leaders to overcome them and maintain the region safety.

Meanwhile, Kuwait’s Information Undersecretary Munira Al-Hwaidi said that the brotherly visit manifested the deep-rooted and historic relations between the State of Kuwait and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The visit media aspect envisages examining means of enhancing the media cooperation between the two brotherly countries, she has asserted.

Meanwhile, the chief editor of the Saudi daily “Al-Watan” said the visit constituted a key turning point in the history of the Kuwaiti-Saudi relations and the joint GCC action in the shadow of rapid regional developments.

Peoples of the GCC countries will witness, by 2022, a unified Gulf different from the previous unification status, he said, noting that the Crown Prince visit would serve this objective — in addition to the forecast outcome of the forthcoming GCC summit.

Adnan Al-Rashed, Chairperson of the Kuwaiti Journalists Association, welcomed the Saudi Heir Apparent noting that his tour has deeply relieved the GCC peoples
