Saudi Jiu-Jitsu Athlete Al Murdhi Wins Bronze Medal at Asian Games

Saudi jiu-jitsu athlete Abdulmalik Al Murdhi today won the bronze medal for the under 62 kilograms weight class in the first day of the jiu-jitsu competition at the 19th Asian Games held in Hangzhou, China, in the presence of head of the Saudi mission to the games Prince Fahd bin Jalawi bin Abdulaziz bin Musaed, who presented medals to winners.

Al Murdhi won the first ever Saudi medal in the jiu-jitsu competition in the Asian Games, after winning the third and fourth place selection match over Jordanian Khalil Al-Arnaut by submission. Al Murdhi won the bronze after beating a Mongolian player in the round of 32 with a score of 6-0, before beating his Iranian opponent 2-0 in the round of 16 and achieving a victory over a Philippine by submission in the round of 8, before losing to Emirati Khaled Al-Blushi in the semifinals 0-2.

With this medal, the Saudi toll of medals in Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games rose to seven: three gold, two silver, and two bronze medals.
