Saudi Negotiating Team Holds 4th Preparatory Meeting for Free Trade Agreement Negotiations between GCC and UK

The Minister of Commerce and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority for Foreign Trade, Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi, chaired yesterday the fourth meeting of the negotiating team for the Free Trade Agreement between the Gulf States and the UK, in Riyadh.

The meeting aims to prepare for the fourth round of free trade agreement negotiations between the GCC countries and the United Kingdom from 17-28 July 2023. The round will be held in two sessions; remote and in-person meetings in London.

During the meeting, the Deputy Governor of the Commission for International Organizations and Agreements, Farid bin Saeed Al-Asali, reviewed the progress of the negotiations and discussed the terms of the agreement with the heads of the negotiating technical teams in addition to discussing topics related to commodities, rules of origin, investment, and services, electronic commerce, and general texts and provisions.

It is noteworthy that the Kingdom’s negotiating team works to supervise and follow up on the progress of trade negotiations to ensure their compatibility with the Kingdom’s commercial goals and policies, participate in trade negotiations to include the Kingdom’s negotiating positions and coordinate with countries with similar orientations in international trade.
