Sayyar Al-Enezi named head of West Asian Athletics Association

KUWAIT, March 18 (KUNA) — The State of Kuwait candidate, former chairperson of the local Athletics Federation, Sayyar Al-Enezi, has been elected without contestation as chairperson of the West Asian Athletics Association for the term (2023-2027).

Al-Enezi was unanimously elected during an extraordinary general assembly, held by Asian association, in the Qatari capital, today (Saturday) — in line with its constituent law.

Mohammad Al-Fadalah of Qatar was appointed vice president. New board members who were elected in the same session were Badr Nasser, Bahrain, Zaidoun Jawad, Iraq, Shajea Al-Maqdeshi, Yemen, Wasim Hawalli, Lebanon, Khelfan Hamad, Oman, and Fedaa Al-Shufi, Syria.

Moreover, the assembly approved extending mandate of the Kuwait-headquartered association secretariat general bureau, with the Kuwaiti members Dr. Manea Al-Ajmi, secretary general, Badr Al-Reshoud, assistant secretary, and Hussein Abbas, executive director.

In a phone interview with KUNA, Al-Enezi pledged to enhance level of the games, particularly in the association 12 member states. (end) fsa.rk
