SFDA: DAEM Initiative Increased Factories Achieving (A+) Rating by 18%

The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) has undertaken significant efforts to enhance the quality standards of domestic industries, facilitated by a specialized technical team focused on providing support and development. This initiative has led to an impressive 18% increase in the number of factories achieving an (A+) rating.

This proactive approach is part of SFDA’s larger strategy to optimize production processes within local factories. Under the banner of the “DAEM” initiative, the Support and Development team orchestrates planned visits to designated factories on an annual basis. The central objective of this initiative is to provide comprehensive technical aid through the expertise of SFDA’s specialists. By doing so, the goal is to assist these factories in reaching a high level of compliance with SFDA regulations and approved technical prerequisites. Additionally, the initiative aims to ensure the implementation of top-notch manufacturing practices that guarantee product safety.

The DAEM initiative has been directed at approximately 34% of the national factories overseen by SFDA, encompassing diverse sectors such as dates, olive oil, fish, honey, chocolate and confectionery, ready-made meals, sanitizers, animal feed, and Taif roses.

Moreover, this initiative has significantly contributed to an impressive 83% increase in the number of factories achieving an (A) rating and a notable 44% increase in the number of factories obtaining a (B) rating. These remarkable achievements have had a palpable positive impact on the safety and quality of the products in question.
