A number of sheikhs, notables, and activists in Al-Zubair district, west of Basra, called for the release of civil activist Ammar Kazzar Nimr.

They also demanded, in a protest this afternoon, the need for the Prime Minister, the Judicial Council and the Minister of Interior to intervene to release activist Ammar Kazzar Nimr, coordinator of the National Project for Peaceful Coexistence in Iraq, find out the reasons for the arrest and the charges against him.

Sources said that a security force arrested today the civil activist, the coordinator of the national project for peaceful coexistence in Iraq Ammar Kazzar Nimr Al-Maliki from his home in Al-Zubair district.
