Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy and Minister of Social Affairs and Community Development, Dr. Mishaan Al-Otaibi issued a decision Monday on forming a Higher Joint Committee for Regulating and Developing Charitable Work, which he will preside, for the purpose of enhancing the effectiveness of charitable work in the country.
In a statement by the Social Affairs ministry, the minister said that the committee will work to develop and fortify charitable work.
The minister added the committee will also employ common visions and ideas from all concerned parties and participants in this important sector of the state.
Al-Otaibi explained that the committee will work to raise recommendations that would organize charitable work and present the necessary proposals to support and monitor the charitable work sector in the country, in addition to cooperating in developing mechanisms that simplify procedures through electronic and digital systems that link charities and the ministry to various bodies working in this field.
The minister expressed pride in what Kuwaiti charitable work is doing in various parts of the world, adding that Kuwaiti charitable work efforts serve humanity and consolidate the distinctive image of Kuwait as a center for humanitarian work and a beacon of goodness for all humanity.
He added that one of the committee’s goals is to implement governance mechanisms and systems that are compatible with the needs of the charitable work sector, unify media visions and mechanisms for collecting official donations and raising community awareness, in order to fortify charitable work and suggest what the committee deems appropriate to achieve the interest of charitable work.
Al-Otaibi said that the committee includes in its membership the Assistant Undersecretary for the Development Sector at the Ministry of Community Affairs and Development in his capacity as a Vice-Chairman, along with nine ministries as members in the committee.
