Speaker Al-Ghanim adjourns session due to gov’t absence

National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanim adjourned the parliament’s session on Wednesday, due to the absence of the government.

In a speech on canceling the session, Al-Ghanim noted that according to Article 116 of Kuwait’s Constitution, which indicates that “The Cabinet must be represented in the Parliament’s sessions by its president or some of its members,” said Al-Ghanim.

Al-Ghanim had called for this session based on parliamentary requests which included on its agenda the rights of special needs people, housing projects and their obstacles, harming citizens from real estate fraud and high construction prices.

The agenda also included real estate financing bill, proposals regarding elections of National Assembly members and the resignation of MP Yousef Al-Fadalah
