Supreme Council for Governorate Affairs official affirms reinforcing role of governors

– Newly appointed Assistant Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Governorate Affairs, Sheikh Sabah Ahmad Al-Sabah, affirmed Sunday keenness on reinforcing the role of governors and providing them with the sufficient support to fulfill their responsibilities.

Speaking to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on occasion of his appointment, Sheikh Al-Sabah stated that governors are representatives of the executive authority as they are tasked with overseeing state public policy, and following the work of government bodies in their respective governorates.

In accordance with decree no. 81 for the year 2014, Al-Sabah illustrated that governors observe the security, social, cultural affairs of the governorates, as well as contribute to development of services provided to residents.

Al-Sabah underlined that it would take much cooperation and coordination between the governors and ministers to achieve the levels of services people aspire to.

He added that a multi-axes comprehensive vision is in the works, a vision that incorporates the involvement of youth, by creating a suitable environment with stimulating programs and activities.

This directive, he mentioned, goes in accordance with speech given by Deputy Amir and Crown Prince His Highness Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah upon opening National Assembly’s 17th legislative term.

Al-Sabah extended thanks and appreciation to the political leadership of Kuwait for his appointment in office, saying that it is a great honor and a great responsibility.

Sheikh Al-Sabah met with the governors to exchange perspectives and benefit from expertise in regards to setbacks and suggested solutions.

The Supreme Council for Governorate Affairs is concerned with bettering services, creating investment-attracting areas, promoting environmental consciousness, safekeeping cultural heritage, endorsing role of co-ops and stimulating industries and economic projects.
