The River Police recovered the bodies of two children who drowned in an irrigation creek, northeast of Baquba, Diyala Governorate Center.

A security source told the correspondent of the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA) that a detachment of the River Police managed to recover the bodies of two children who drowned in the lined Mahrut stream while swimming in the Abu Jasra area on the outskirts of Al-Wajihiya district, northeast of Baquba.

He added that the two bodies were taken to the forensic medicine department, while the security services opened an investigation into the incident.
