The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Chairs Cabinet Session


Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud chaired the Cabinet session in Jeddah today.

The Cabinet was briefed on the content of the messages HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister received from the presidents of the Republic of Guinea and the Republic of Maldives, which both discussed ties.

In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency following the Cabinet session, Minister of Media Salman bin Yousef Al-Dossary said that the Cabinet discussed the overall work of the state in recent days, especially the efforts exerted to strengthen cooperation with different countries and organizations, and to improve the speed and effectiveness of collaborative work.

The Cabinet praised the results of the first strategic dialogue between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and WHO, during which both sides agreed to continue coordination and identify joint initiatives, and emphasized the commitment to supporting international efforts and continuing cooperation to improve regional and global health and de
al with health crises.

The Cabinet also reviewed the latest regional and global developments, and discussed Saudi Arabia’s ongoing diplomatic efforts with other countries and international organizations to support Sudan, including the delivery of humanitarian aid and putting an end to hostilities. These efforts are in line with the decisions of the previous Jeddah talks and with international humanitarian law.

Al-Dossary said that the Cabinet reviewed the performance of several government agencies that demonstrated great progress in serving citizens and residents, improving digital platforms, enhancing the quality of life, facilitating business practices, boosting competitiveness, and increasing efficiency.

The Cabinet wished the best to students starting the new academic year and reaffirmed the country’s commitment to ensuring quality education to achieve global excellence. The Cabinet commended the launch of a program to upgrade major avenues and ring roads in Riyadh, to improve transportation and the flow of traffic, and to help the city’s growth and economic development. These improvements will solidify Riyadh’s position as a leading global metropolis.

The Cabinet deemed the stable inflation rate of 1.5% in July as evidence of Saudi economy’s resilience and of the effectiveness of the measures taken to counter global price increases.

The Cabinet tackled other items on its agenda and issued several decisions, among which the following:

First:

Approving a headquarters agreement between the government of Saudi Arabia and the Arab Confederation for Institutes of Internal Auditors.

Second:

Approving an agreement between the Government of Saudi Arabia and the Government of the Republic of Cyprus to exempt holders of diplomatic, special and service passports from visa requirements.

Third:

Approving a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in promoting
direct investment between Saudi Arabia and UK.

Fourth:

Approving a memorandum of understanding between the Saudi Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority and the State Office for Nuclear Safety in Czech Republic for the exchange of information and technical cooperation in nuclear control matters.

Fifth:

Authorizing the minister of finance, chairman of the board of directors of the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority, or a deputy, to sign a draft agreement with the government of Tunisia for cooperation and mutual assistance in customs matters.

Sixth:

Authorizing the minister of industry and mineral resources, chairman of the board of directors of the Saudi Geological Survey, or a deputy, to discuss and sign a draft memorandum of understanding between the Saudi Geological Survey and the National Agency for Geological Research and Mineral Properties in the Islamic Republic of Mauritania for cooperation in the field of geology.

Seventh:

Approving a model cooperation agreement between the Transpo
rt General Authority of Saudi Arabia and its counterparts in other countries, and authorizing the minister of transport and logistic services, chairman of the board of directors of the Transport General Authority, or a deputy, to discuss and sign draft cooperation agreements with counterparts from other countries based on the referenced model.

Eighth:

Authorizing the chairman of the board of the General Authority for Competition, or a deputy, to discuss and sign a draft memorandum of understanding with the Antimonopoly Council of Iraq for cooperation to enhance competition and combating monopolistic practices.

Ninth:

Approving a memorandum of understanding between the Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Anti-Corruption Commission in Malaysia on preventing and combating corruption.

Tenth:

Approving a memorandum of understanding between the Saudi General Organization for Social Insurance and the Social Security Corporation in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan
on cooperation in social insurance.

Eleventh:

Approving a memorandum of understanding for cooperation and exchange of news between the Saudi Press Agency and Bahrain News Agency.

Twelfth:

Approving the resolutions of the 27th Universal Postal Congress to issue amendments to the additional protocol to the Constitution of the Universal Postal Union, the additional protocol to the General System of the Universal Postal Union, and the Universal Postal Convention and its final protocol.
