The President of the Kurdistan Region discusses with the Iranian Ambassador the security agreement


The President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, discussed with the Iranian Ambassador to Iraq, Muhammad Kadhem Al Sadiq, the security agreement between Iraq and Iran.



The office of the Regional President stated that during the meeting, the development of Iranian relations with Iraq and the Kurdistan region, the security agreement between Iraq and Iran, and relations between Erbil and Baghdad were discussed.



Barzani stressed the importance of relations with Iran as an important neighbor of the Kurdistan region and stressed that the region is committed to the security agreement between Iraq and Iran.



He also stressed that any threat to Iran will never be allowed to be posed by the Kurdistan region, in reference to the presence of armed groups opposed to Tehran on the territory of the region.



For his part, the Iranian Ambassador stressed the importance of his country’s relations with Iraq and the region and thanked the President of the region for facilitating the reception of Iranian visitors during the fortieth visit ceremony.



The meeting also discussed the situation of the region in general and several other topics of common interest.
