The strike takes place in several schools in Jabal Mukaber in protest against the occupation’s measures

Today, Saturday, a number of schools in the town of Jabal Mukaber in the occupied city of Jerusalem went on strike, on the first day of the new academic year, in protest against the arbitrary measures of the Israeli occupation municipality against students.

The strike came in response to the call of the Central Parents Committee for Jabal Mukaber Schools, and began with an open strike at Al-Sawahra Secondary Schools for Boys and Ibn Al-Haytham Preparatory Schools for Boys, and a protest at the New Al-Sala’a School, in rejection of the occupation’s decisions against the schools.

The committee confirmed that the strike will continue until the occupation municipality responds to their legitimate demands, which they have repeatedly submitted to no avail, which are: transferring the students of Al-Sawahra Secondary School for Boys to the building of Ibn Al-Haytham Preparatory School in the Wadi Al-Homs area, and transferring the students of Ibn Al-Haytham Preparatory School for Boys to The new building located in the Al-Jaabis neighborhood, and providing their transportation, after the travel company refused to transport students this year.

Among the demands also is submitting a future work plan to build new educational institutions, and closing rented buildings that do not meet the required specifications
