The US Army announces the destruction of a ballistic missile launched by the Houthis in the Red Sea

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced today, Friday, the destruction of an anti-ship ballistic missile launched by the Yemeni Houthi “Ansar Allah” movement in the Red Sea.

CENTCOM said in a statement: ‘At approximately 1:00 p.m. (Sanaa time) on April 11, US Central Command forces succeeded in engaging and destroying an anti-ship ballistic missile that was launched over the Red Sea from Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen.

The statement added: ‘No casualties or damage were reported by US, coalition, or commercial vessels.’

The Command statement continued: ‘The missile has been determined to pose an imminent threat to US, coalition, and commercial ships in the region. These actions are being taken to protect freedom of navigation and make international waters safer and more secure for US, coalition, and commercial ships.’

Since last November, the Houthi “Ansar Allah” movement has continued its attacks in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, targeting “Israeli ships linked to Israel or those heading to it,”
in order to “support the Palestinian people in Gaza,” while the United States and its allies have formed a military force to deal with Houthi strikes.

American and British aircraft launched several strikes on various areas in Yemen, while the American army carries out missions separately from any naval coalition in the region./End
