Today’s newspapers, Tuesday, focused on Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani’s emphasis on the importance of optimal investment in irrigation and water projects scheduled to be implemented with Turkey and the arrest warrants issued by the Integrity Commission against those with special degrees for the month of July.

Al-Zawraa newspaper, issued by the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate, quoted Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani as stressing the importance of optimal investment in irrigation and water projects scheduled to be implemented with Turkey.

The Prime Minister’s media office stated in a statement that Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani chaired a meeting devoted to discussing the first package of water projects within the framework agreement between Iraq and Turkey, signed between the two sides last April, which includes 13 projects, in addition to projects that fall within the investment plan.

During the meeting, he pointed out that launching these projects will provide new management for the wat
er file, indicating the importance of focusing on treatment plants, sewage projects, water resources projects, and strategic projects, as well as the need to study agricultural reclamation and irrigation projects, and water retention dams through a group of relevant ministries, and forming technical teams in each ministry to select future strategic projects.

Al-Sudani directed the launch of the first package of projects, especially with the availability of the allocated amounts, as well as the formation of a specialized technical team in the Ministry of Water Resources, based on the joint agreement, to handle technical matters, archiving, and communication with the Turkish side, and to make use of the expertise available to them.

The projects were distributed as follows: 6 projects within the Ministry of Water Resources, 5 projects within the responsibility of the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Municipalities, and 2 projects within the Ministry of Agriculture. They varied between irrigation network r
eclamation projects, closed irrigation systems, main and sub-canal drainage projects, or dams for water storage.

Al-Sabah newspaper was interested in the arrest warrants issued by the Integrity Commission against those with special ranks for the month of July and said that the Integrity Commission showed the total arrest and summons orders issued and executed against those with high and special ranks during the past month of July, confirming that they reached 36 orders.

A statement by the Commission stated that “the judicial authorities issued 36 arrest and summons orders against 31 of those with high and special ranks, against the backdrop of cases investigated by the Commission’s investigation directorates and offices in Baghdad and the governorates and referred to the judiciary,” explaining that “30 summons orders and six arrest orders were issued for the period from the first of July until the end of it.”

It added, “The orders included three former ministers, a former deputy minister, a former member o

In addition, the Nahrain Foundation for Supporting Transparency and Integrity considered that the “theft of the century” is an ongoing crime and the final amount or the people involved in it have not been determined yet.

The head of the foundation, Muhammad Rahim Al-Rubaie, said: “Since the money from the theft of the century was transferred outside Iraq, the final amount and even the people involved in it have not been determined yet, stressing that other names are involved in this crime, and others are involved in money laundering crimes through it.

Al-Rubaie praised the great cooperation between the International Police “Interpol” and the Supreme Judicial Council and the Ministries of Justice and Foreign Affairs and the relevant agencies, in addition to the Integrity Commission, to arrest them so that they receive their just punishment.
