UN Chief urges African Union countries for cooperation, coordination

ALGEIRS, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, stressed Saturday the importance of cooperation and coordination between African Union countries.

Guterres, in his speech during the opening of the African Union summit, hailed the efforts made by the African Union in order to achieve peace and security and allow its countries to embody their national development plans, Algerian news agency reported.

He also went on urging African leaders to unite to face the various challenges facing the continent, stressing “Africa needs new efforts to establish peace and security and put an end to terrorism.” The 36th Ordinary Summit of the African Union had started earlier today in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.
