UN official hails Kuwait’s humanitarian role

Deputy Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and the Resident Coordinator in Somalia, Adam Abdulmawla, praised the leading humanitarian role of the State of Kuwait.

In a statement to KUNA Saturday after meeting Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) Chairman, Dr. Hilal Al-Sayer, Abdulmawla hailed the role played by the KRCS in providing aid and assistance to the afflicted and the needy in different regions of the world, especially Somalia.

He said that the meeting dealt with the humanitarian situation in his country and ways to enhance joint humanitarian action there, providing an overview of the difficult living conditions in most parts of Somalia.

For his part, Al-Sayer praised the efforts of the UN in Somalia and the humanitarian and relief activities in various social sectors.

He stressed the KRCS interest in improving the humanitarian situation in Somalia as a priority to overcome different challenges.
