Unlicensed weapons seized in Baghdad and Kirkuk


Baghdad, Federal Police forces carried out inspections, clearance, and seized unlicensed weapons in the Baghdad and Kirkuk governorates.

The Ministry of the Interior stated in a statement: ‘A force from the Ninth Brigade, Third Division, Federal Police, in conjunction with the brigade’s intelligence, and a detachment of drones, supported by the engineering effort of the brigade’s headquarters, carried out a search and clearing operation for the villages of (Braij, Al-Sabti, and Kisouma) in Kirkuk, which resulted in the discovery of (an anti-aircraft launcher missile) anti-Armored vehicles, 2 mortar bombs (60, 82 mm), a homemade explosive device, destroyed by engineering effort detachments).’

It added: ‘The security efforts of our units, which aim to confine weapons to the state to ensure the security and safety of citizens, carried out a search for unlicensed weapons in the (Umm al-Kubar and al-Ghazalan) area in Baghdad, which resulted in the seizure of (6 different types of rifles, a pistol, 14 rifle store
s, and 70 ammunition stores).’ Light equipment and other materials, and the seized materials were dealt with in the proper manner.’
