CAIRO, Speaker of the Arab Parliament Al-Asoumi on Saturday called on the international community to intervene immediately in order to stop the “war of annihilation” committed by Israeli occupation forces in the Gaza Strip.

Delivering a keynote speech during an Arab Parliament session, Al-Asoumi also urged lifting the unjust sedge on the Palestinian enclave and allowing in medical and food aid immediately.

He warned that the Israeli occupation’s insistence on the forced displacement of Gazans, forcing them to flee to southern areas, placing more than a million people in jeopardy and cutting off services, are unequivocally war crimes that reflect the occupation’s disrespect for international law.

Al-Asoumi held the Israeli occupying power fully responsible for the serious impacts of their escalation in occupied Palestinian territories.

He lashed out at the Israeli occupation for shelling Palestinians districts and cities, targeting civilians, including children, women and old people, in Gaza and destroying the infrastructure of the Gaza Strip.

However, the Arab Parliament’s speaker astringently lampooned disgraceful international silence about these barbaric crimes and policies.
