— Minister of Information and Culture, and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi presided over the first meeting of the higher organizing committee of the 3rd GCC Games at the Youth Public Authority on Sunday evening.

He urged the concerned departments to speed up preparations for the big event that will bring together athletes from all sisterly members of the GCC in Kuwait between January 9 and 19, 2022.

Participants will compete in 15 competitions, he said in statements to KUNA following the meeting.

“The Games will provide an opportunity for bringing the GCC peoples closer to each other,” he pointed out.

Minister Al-Mutairi voiced satisfaction with the plan set out by the organizing committee to set the stage for the Games and ensure the success of the event.

He reminded the participants and the fans of the need to adhere to the health precautions endorsed by the Kuwaiti Ministry of Health to protect the public from the risks of coronavirus.

The meeting, attended by chairman of the organizing committee and President of the Kuwaiti Olympic Committee Sheikh Fahad Nasser Al-Sabah, endorsed the final format of the organizing committee and the set-up of the executive of the Games.
