National Security Agency Overthrows A Terrorist Network Responsible For Carrying Out The Recent Attacks In Diyala

The Iraqi National Security Service announced today, Sunday, the overthrow of a terrorist network responsible for carrying out the recent attacks in Diyala.

The INSS said in a statement that, as part of a series of specific operations and painful strikes carried out by the Iraqi National Security against the remnants of terrorist gangs, a force from the INSS overthrew in Diyala governorate a terrorist network consisting of two detachments comprising (5) wanted terrorists according to judicial arrest warrants, including the so-called commander of the Baquba detachments and Al-Khalis within the terrorist organization.

The statement added that the members of the two terrorist detachments admitted their affiliation with ISIS gangs, and that they had carried out criminal operations against citizens and security forces during the current year, including planting and detonating explosive devices in the areas (Al-Katoon, Al-Khalis, Al-Moallemeen, and Al-Tahrir neighborhood), and targeting police patrols and security control towers, as well as planting an explosive device in order to detonate it on the house of a judge in Diyala, and planning to carry out assassinations against personalities and officers in the province.

It continued, that the arrest process took place after field and intelligence follow-up of all terrorist incidents, luring wanted persons, and setting up tights ambushes that led to their overthrow, as their statements were duly recorded and referred to the competent judicial authorities to take the necessary measures against them in accordance with the law. / End
