OIC Celebrates World Humanitarian Day, Praises the Sacrifices Offered by Its Workers

Celebrating World Humanitarian Day, which falls on August 19 every year, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) praised the efforts and sacrifices workers of humanitarian organizations make to save and protect the lives of those in dire need of support.

The Jeddah-based OIC general secretariat said that while marking the World Humanitarian Day, it should be reminded that the Islamic world is facing many humanitarian challenges and witnessing many negative developments, which calls for intensifying and coordinating efforts to mitigate their effects, and reaffirmed its commitment to promoting and coordinating joint Islamic action in the humanitarian field, based on Islamic values.

The OIC works in accordance with its charter and relevant decisions in addressing humanitarian crises by putting in place mechanisms for humanitarian action to face challenges, coordinating with member states, relevant institutions and agencies, especially the Islamic Solidarity Fund, with regard to relief efforts, mobilizing resources for humanitarian assistance, and continuing to establish strategic partnerships, in line with the principles of objectives of the organization.
