CAIRO, The Arab League on Friday vehemently condemned an overnight car bomb blast in Libya’s eastern Benghazi City, which left a number of people dead or injured.
A car bomb explosion killed at least eight people and wounded 12 others in Benghazi late Thursday. The bombing took place near a busy market street selling mostly Syrian products.
Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmad Abul-Gheit said in a press statement that the pan-Arab bloc stands by Libya in its ongoing fight against terrorism, and backs all measures taken in order to establish nationwide security and stability.
He also reiterated the league’s unshakable support for this Arab country’s efforts to complete its political process and attain holistic national reconciliation.
The chief of the Arab League offered heartfelt condolences to the Libyan government, people and victims’ families, wishing a swift recovery of all those injured in the bombing.
