EU condemns terrorist attack in Burkina Faso

BRUSSELS, The European Union Thursday condemned a terrorist attack in the eastern region of Burkina Faso that left 37 deaths yesterday.

These attacks fuel a spiral of violence that causes large population displacement, undermines national cohesion and hampers development, noted the EU spokesperson for foreign policy Maja Kocijanic, in a statement tonight.

The European Union renews its support to the Government of Burkina Faso, which currently holds the presidency of G5 Sahel, she said.

The European Union is committed to the Burkina Faso authorities and people, as well as to all the countries of the region, to respond in a coordinated manner to the current challenges of security, stability and development in the region, she added.
