BRUSSELS, The European Union welcomed the appointment of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) earlier Monday.
“After a year of political stalemate, this opens the way for renewed commitment of the political parties to allow for progress on the EU path of the country,” said EU High Representative Josep Borrell and EU Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Oliver Varhelyi, in a joint statement tonight.
“The coming 2020 will be an important year for Bosnia and Herzegovina with the holding of local elections, including in Mostar,” it said.
“We stress the urgency of the engagement of the State level government needed to define, adopt and implement a new package of socio and economic reforms for the benefit of the country and its citizens. The work ahead requires the full commitment of legislative and executive authorities at all levels,” said the statement.
The EU said it is ready to fully support and accompany Bosnia and Herzegovina, its institutions and all its citizens in moving forward on the European integration path.
