Jordan condemns terrorist attack in Lebanon

AMMAN, The Jordanian Government on Tuesday condemned the terrorist attack that targeted Lebanese army troops and security personnel in Tripoli in northern Lebanon.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Sufian Al-Qada expressed in a statement his country’s solidarity with the Lebanese Government and people in the face terrorism and “blind violence,” designed to undermine the country’s security and stability.

He has also affirmed Jordan’s unwavering stance against all forms of violence and terrorism that target people of all religions and races.

A long gunman, on the eve of Eid Al-Fitr, killed two Lebanese Army troops and two members of the internal security forces in Tripoli, before entrenching himself at an apartment house in the city. According to reports from Beirut, the troops sealed off the building while a special anti-terrorism squad, hurriedly dispatched from Beirut, burst into the house prompting the gunman to blow himself up.
