Palestinians outraged by US amb. annexation remarks

RAMALLAH, Palestinian officials expressed outrage towards remarks of US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman on Israel’s right to annex parts of the occupied West Bank.

In a statement on Sunday, member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization Hanan Ashrawi noted that Friedman’s remarks represent the US’ aggressive policy against Palestine.

She strongly rejected the ambassador’s claims that there are a majority of Palestinians who support the US administration’s policies, stressing that it’s just another excuse to justify his “criminal” views.

On his part, spokesman for the Palestinian government Ibrahim Melhem noted that Friedman’s statement is a violation of the international law, adding that the White House is bias in favor of Israel.

Melhem said that such remarks are typical of the US arrogance and shows that “the foreign policy of the superpower (the US) is dominated by a group of hard-core extremists like Kushner, Greenblatt and Friedman who are not yet politically mature.” Meanwhile, the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates is considering to file a complaint against Friedman in the International Criminal Court, for posing threat to the safety of Palestinians, as well as the whole region.

“This person who is illiterate in politics, history and geography, and who belongs to the state of the settlements has nothing to do with logic, justice or law unless they serve the occupation state which he is eager to defend by all means,” it noted.
