Russia, Turkey broker ceasefire in Syrian Idlib

MOSCOW, Russia and Turkey have brokered a ceasefire in northern Syria’s Idlib, where escalations have dangerously escalated over the past two weeks, Russia’s military said on Wednesday.

The deal was struck between Syrian government forces and rebels in the de-escalation zone, the military was quoted by Russian Interfax news agency as saying.

Several countries expressed anxiety regarding the recent escalation of tensions, calling for a ceasefire aimed at ensuring the safety of around three million people in the city.
