US President Donald Trump and President Moon Jae-in of the Republic of Korea discussed the issue of de-nuclearizing North Korea, the White House announced Thursday.
Trump called Moon to congratulate him on the success of the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics, the announcement said. Trump thanked Moon for his hospitality to the US presidential delegations to the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympics, it said.
Moon briefed Trump on developments regarding North Korea and inter-Korean talks, the statement said.
Trump and Moon “noted their firm position that any dialogue with North Korea must be conducted with the explicit and unwavering goal of complete, verifiable and irreversible de-nuclearization.
The two leaders committed to maintain close coordination,” the statement said.
