US delays steel, aluminum tariffs on EU, Canada, Mexico

WASHINGTON, The White House, on Monday, announced a 30-day delay in its decision about whether to impose steel and aluminum tariffs on the European Union, Canada and Mexico.

“In all of these negotiations, the administration is focused on quotas that will restrain imports, prevent transshipment and protect the national security,” the White House said in a statement.

The administration strategy is “to reach fair outcomes with allies to protect our national security and address global challenges to the steel and aluminum industries,” it said.
