EU condemns attacks against soldiers in Mali

BRUSSELS, The European Union (EU) Saturday condemned yesterday’s attack in north eastern Mali, which caused the death of at least 53 soldiers of the armed forces of Mali and a civilian.

“The European Union stands with the Government and the people of Mali to counter this serious violence. We continue to engage in support of Mali to enable the country to restore the full authority of the State throughout its territory, to ensure its development and the prosperity of its citizens,” said Majaj Kocijancic, spokesperson for EU foreign policy, in a statement.

The stability of Mali and more widely of the Sahel is a priority for both the EU and African partners, she added.
