His Highness the Amir’s wisdom and experience, as well as global status, would provide momentum to Kuwait International Conference for Reconstruction of Iraq (KICRI), Deputy Premier and Interior Minister Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah said Thursday.
His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah instructed the Conference be provided with all facilities and facilitations needed in order to champion its cause of alleviating suffering of the Iraqi people, said a ministry statement quoting the minister.
His remarks came during his reception of Moayed Al-Lami, chief of the Iraqi Journalists’ Syndicate, who is heading a media delegation to cover the Conference.
Al-Lami, on his part, valued His Highness the Amir’s constant support to Iraq, as well as expressing content over the overwhelming hospitality the delegation has received so far.
The reception was attended by Iraq’s ambassador to Kuwait Alaa Al-Hashemi, Assistant Undersecretary at the Kuwaiti Ministry of Information Faisal Al-Mitlaqim, Vice Chairman of Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) board and Trustee of the Kuwaiti Journalists’ Association Adnan Al-Rashid and KUNA’s Deputy Director General for Editorial Affairs and Editor-in-Chief Saad Al-Ali.
The Iraqi delegation included Al-Lami, who is also Chairman of Federation of Arab Journalists, in addition to Editor-in-Chief of the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA) Shafiq Al-Terki, director of al-Hurra TV channel Falah Hilayel, director of al-Rasheed TV Ali Baban, director of Iraqiyah TV Alaa Hattab and media advisor of the defense ministry Hamid Manhoub.
KICRI is to be co-chaired by Kuwait, Iraq, the UN, the EU and the World Bank.
